Mysterious underground American based musical group Oreaganomics prepare
to start 2026 in style on January 1st with the release of their new album ‘Locked
Out on Valentine’s Day’, alongside their infectious single ‘Work Not Heart’!
Oreaganomics are known for their anonymous nature, and complete detach from the
social media norms. Their music focuses on real-life themes, including the costof-living crisis, wealth inequality, social critique, and personal struggles.
The band avoids the live performance circuit, choosing to communicate primarily through
their unique music, and the occasional live stream.
The group started in rural Kansas in 2005 and later moved to Chicago in 2009. They are currently based in Kansas and Nebraska. Their sound is a diverse, experimental blend that has evolved over time, incorporating elements of lo-fi, R&B/soul, pop, trap, jazz, folk, and rock. Ultimately, it is a highly rare, exciting fusion of genres, and the only way to experience it, is by clicking play.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM ‘LOCKED OUT ON VALENTINE’S DAY’?
It’s about relationships with both people and capitalism. They kind of blend together.
HOW DID THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR ‘WORK NOT HEART’ COME TOGETHER? WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO WORK ON?
Well I had the concept of a person working until they melt and needed to find somebody to do claymation. With the internet you can find anything if you try hard enough.
WHICH SONG WOULD YOU SAY SUMS UP YOUR UNIQUE SOUND THE BEST, AND WHY?
Love Thy Enemy. It’s kind of odd but still beautiful. Engineers hate it but people like it.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO MUSIC?
Oh, it’s a calling I can’t escape. I can get over deaths, lost loves, and I never was into group thinking. Music though is my heaven and what I seek to do. I wish it was cheaper.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL WRITING AND RECORDING DAY LOOK LIKE?
Musically we do circle of fifths stuff and then add layers. Lyrically, we kind of let life happen and then write lyrics when something strikes us.
HOW DID YOU GET YOUR BAND NAME/STAGE NAME?
The lady in our band came up with it. It was a joke that has plagued us for decades.
WHAT HAS BEEN THAT HARDEST THING ABOUT YOUR MUSIC JOURNEY SO FAR?
Gatekeeping. Bottom to semi-pro acts are behind a wall trying to figure how to talent their way through it. For example, Norman Saan is a pro level act and Pitchfork is blatantly avoiding him. Being avoided wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t so expensive to get to the gate.
WHAT'S BEEN THE EASIEST?
Continuing because we just want to.
WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING IF YOU WEREN'T MAKING MUSIC?
Selfish things
WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?
In life? Don’t blindly follow a organization.
WHAT'S NEXT?
We have had a lot of collab request and feel like doing those.
