I’m ChiodoSupply, a songwriter who started out screaming in punk bands and somehow ended up writing Americana songs that sound like they were born in a dusty roadside bar and I’m ok with that.
Life has a funny way of shifting your sound. These days the music leans more toward acoustic guitars, bluegrass energy, and storytelling, but the punk attitude is still there. It’s just traded distortion pedals for a little more grief.
A lot of my songs are about starting over, wandering, and figuring out who you are after life knocks you around a bit.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE
My first record under the ChiodoSupply, 1919, is a stripped-down album built around storytelling, acoustic instruments, and that old-school American songwriting tradition.
I’ve also been working on new music, including a single called “Wandering & Wanting.” That song really captures the spirit of the project…restless, reflective, and a little bit moody.
It’s music for people who don’t quite fit in one place and never really have.
WHICH SONG WOULD YOU SAY SUMS UP YOUR SOUND THE BEST?
Right now I’d say “Wandering & Wanting.”
It has the heart of a country song, the grit of a punk song, and the feeling of being on the road with no clear destination. That’s pretty much the ChiodoSupply vibe.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO MUSIC?
Punk rock. I was an angry kid.
That was the spark. Punk showed me that music didn’t have to be perfect. Three chords, something to say, and enough nerve to say it loud. In that regard, not much has changed. My
great grandmother sat me on her lap and forced me to learn to play the piano. I feel like that’s where I discovered music as an effective way to communicate,
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL WRITING AND RECORDING DAY LOOK LIKE?
Most songs start with a guitar and a line that won’t leave me alone.
Sometimes I’ll sit down intentionally to write, but honestly the best songs usually show up when you’re not trying too hard…driving somewhere, sitting in a bar, walking through a town you’ve never been to.
Recording is pretty simple. I like to keep things raw and human. If a take has a little grit in it, a bad chord strike or a flat line, it may actually get a permanent spot in the song.
HOW DID YOU GET YOUR BAND NAME / STAGE NAME?
Chiodo is my real name, but ChiodoSupply is the name of an auto parts business my grandfather started in Pittsburgh long before I was alive. It wass kind of a play on words because the name of the company was Key Auto Supply, which is pronounced the same.
Now it’s just the banner everything falls under: music, art, rants and whatever weird ideas come next.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE HARDEST THING ABOUT YOUR MUSIC JOURNEY SO FAR?
Starting over.
Leaving the identity of a band and building something new from scratch is humbling. Suddenly you’re not “the guy from the band” anymore, you’re just another songwriter trying to make people listen to your songs. But some of these songs turned out so beautifully, that it really gave me the confidence to expand my writing in all sorts of different directions.
WHAT'S BEEN THE EASIEST?
The writing.
When you’ve lived enough life, the songs tend to write themselves. I am not unique, having lived a life filled with ups and downs. Most of my songs are about the trials we all face over a lifetime, and I think that’s why they resonate so much with my audience.
WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING IF YOU WEREN'T MAKING MUSIC?
Not what if, but I actually already am running businesses and chasing crazy ideas around the world. It pays the bills, but isn’t as rewarding as music has been in my life.
WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?
Don’t chase trends. Chase truth.
The songs that last are the ones that mean something to you first. Also, when I am having writers block, I always just get back to basics and keep things simple.
WHAT'S NEXT?
More music.
New singles, more shows, and a lot more traveling. I’m always writing and always working on the next record.
There’s another album coming in fall of 2026 called “Meow” and a lot of stories left to tell.
