METALCORE BAND FORGET CONFORMITY TALK TO US ABOUT THEIR MUSIC AND ALBUM 'COLLAPSING THE DYNASTY'

HI THERE THANKS FOR ANSWERING SOME QUESTIONS FOR US.
Hi I’m Chris, vocalist of Forget Conformity
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR ALBUM: Collapsing The Dynasty was a long time in the making. It is a lot of blood sweat, and long hours of self-recording putting it together. Our former guitarist Nate Dolf did the recording as his first attempt at a full-length album.
HOW DID YOU GO ABOUT THE SONGWRITING PROCESS? Over the past 3 years we crafted the tunes together from fresh ideas and older riffs from Andrew Bishop our guitarist that we could finally put together. We wrote everything together as a unit mostly and continue to do that on this new album.
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM? A bunch of things. Some of it was dealing with depression and other things that band members deal with, loss, anxiety, but also this want to tell stories. These songs hopefully take people on several journeys.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE TRACK? My favorite track as the vocalist is Not Enough Time. Our bass player Samuel Boatner nails the cleans, and I just think that the entire track has a different feel.
WHO ARE YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES? You can hear the As I Lay Dying and Norma Jean influence in some things, and we love older Parkway Drive as well
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE? Me personally, Oh God the Aftermathby Norma Jean. That album sent me into the rabbit hole of heavy music, and is still a defining album for me to this day.
WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING IF YOU DIDN'T MAKE MUSIC? I would be in radio or broadcasting somehow. Thats what I was doing right as I joined Forget Conformity.
WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO RECORD ONE OF YOUR SONGS, AND WHICH ONE? i would love to work with Matt Bayles, producer of Norma Jean, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam. We have a song called By the Numbers that is right up his alley. It’s chaotic, but pericise in its progressions
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND? Jonathon Baker our drummer formed the band when a friend of his, Peter Powers, asked him to get a group going so they could play a show with their old band. Within a couple of months, he had the beginnings of Forget Conformity
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO ANYONE STARTING OUT? Keep trying, even if you think no one is paying attention. Write good songs, dont settle for easy songs, and most of all: Once you start treating it like a business, you must be consistent in how you act.
WHAT IS NEXT?
We will be releasing a single this year called “Hope” recorded with Russell Hollar. It should have a music video later on in the year as well.
