PLEASE TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF...
Thanks for having me. Fire the Humans is the soulful, gritty solo project born from the mind of Jeff Lee. Based outside of St. Louis, Missouri in the US, this project began back in 2020 as the world was changing through a pandemic. I've always written and fronted bands, but hadn't written from a different angle. My own angle. Something raw, authentic, emotionally charged and honest. I wanted something that swims upstream against the current of my career in music.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE
'Burned Alive' is the new single that drops worldwide on 2/13/26. It's a different sound than what I've done on previous releases like 'Clever', 'Vanish' or 'L.A. Sober'. I wanted something that had the real touch of human instruments. Where you felt the guitar strings, where the bass rattles your soul and the vocals intentionally feel like I'm in the room. Raw and authentic.
WHICH SONG WOULD YOU SAY SUMS UP YOUR SOUND THE BEST?
Currently, 'Burned Alive' would best describe the sound. Always growing, always challenging myself, always seeking something that doesn't fit the expectations of what I've done before. There has to be a curiosity that fans experience. Writing the same song over and over again isn't what I'm seeking, nor do I think that's what people enjoy. We're all on this journey together.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO MUSIC?
I used to watch my Mom and Dad play music when I was a child. I would sit on the basement steps and listen and watch them play in bands. I loved it and took to the drums early on. It wasn't until my early teens that I began singing in front of others.
WHAT DOES TYPICAL WRITING AND RECORDING DAY LOOK LIKE?
Writing is a constant process. Everything is surrounded by the chorus melody and hook. When I cannot get it out of my head, I build around that. In regards to the new single 'Burned Alive', it was coming from a place of personal experience. An evening shared with my wife. Only felt right to paint the picture accurately, so it turned out very sexy, sultry and romantic. When people hear it, they draw from their own memory or experience. When I close my eyes, I know what I see... what do you see?
HOW DID YOU GET YOUR BAND NAME/ STAGE NAME?
Fire the Humans is my tongue n' cheek response to how we're doing as a species. If something much bigger than us in the universe is observing us from afar, it's my perspective that they would be disappointed in what we're doing with this gift.
WHAT HAS BEEN THAT HARDEST THING ABOUT YOUR MUSIC JOURNEY SO FAR?
It's art. Some people see and appreciate the beauty in the painting... some do not. If you can live with the fact that not everyone is going to understand the vision, it isn't hard at all. Just paint and everything else will fall in place precisely where it should be.
WHAT'S BEEN THE EASIEST?
Connection. When fans connect with the mood, lyrics or feel of a song, it all feels right. Anyone that has experienced this knows what I'm talking about. Connection is everything. It's no different than meeting a like-minded individual at work, the gym or anywhere... When you both see the world through the same lens, it's easy.
WHAT WOULD YOU DOING IF YOU WEREN'T MAKING MUSIC?
I like to think that I'd be a great poet or painter.. Creating something from nothing or bringing something better out from what is currently there.
WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?
'Remember when you wanted what you currently have'
WHAT'S NEXT?
'Burned Alive' is the first single to be released from the Fire the Humans EP in 2026. The goal is to release a limited vinyl record by year's end. One side with the previous 5 releases and the other side with 5 new songs.
PLEASE ADD ANY SOCIALS SO WE CAN SHARE
I purposely steer away from social media platforms other than YouTube. Too much information is shared and waters down the imagination and mystery of a human being. Just listen to the music, share the music and come see Fire the Humans when there's a tour. Thanks again!
