VILAINE TRACKS, rock quartet from Le Mans (France), was formed by Arnaud, (guitarist / band leader) and Thierry on bass in 2016. TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
After a first EP in 2017, December 2020 saw the release of our second EP (SUNNY GRAVE;), 5 songs and 15 minutes of authentic, energic and melodic music.
We also recently welcomed the good news that SUNNY GRAVE was selected, among more than 30 French bands, by French Rock Magazine “Rock & Folk” (equivalent to Rolling Stones Magazine in UK/US) for a review in its local band's section in the May issue.
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Arnaud, our band leader, is getting inspiration from some key moments of his personal life.
CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?
14 minutes and 39 seconds, this is the length our new EP. Sometimes, we don’t need more and this exactly how we would describe our new EP : A punk/rock EP in which we get inspiration from the UK/US scene with the addition of the saxophone and the harmonica on 3 songs.
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
We all get inspiration from different music style and bands and if there would be an album that we all rank in the top of our list, it would be “LONDON CALLING” from The Clash.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
Not yet, we are about to finalize our first video clip.
WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
As we are an amateur band, we would obviously spend the rest of our time, either at work or either with our family and friends.
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
Not anymore, unless we will play in a larger venue with a bigger attendance than we are used to (which has not happened for quite some time L). We are all in our 40 and 50’s and we all have been playing music, and especially live music, for quite some time. The experience we all acquire has helped us to manage our nervousness.
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
VILAINE TRACKS, rock quartet from Le Mans (France), was formed was formed around Arnaud, (guitarist / band leader) and Thierry on bass in 2016. Ben, on the saxophone, and Vincent, in 2018, later joined the band.
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
Arnaud, our band leader, composes our music, by coming to us with almost all the guitar riffs and then, also writes the lyrics. Arnaud is getting inspiration from some key moments of his personal life.
WHAT IS NEXT?
We are just out from a long weekend where we met for the first time this year ((due to the lockdown). Obviously, we enjoyed a lot playing the whole weekend. Having fun, playing songs from our setlist was on the agenda but we also took the time to explore new ideas our band leader Arnaud has worked on the last couple of months. Talking about recording a new EP is definitely coming a bit too soon but that will be a target we have in mind for next year.
