Charley from Mindwake chats about the band's album and making music
PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR US WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOU AND YOUR MUSIC AND TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.
Hi I am Charley, singer of the band Mindwake, I live in the south of France, I've loved metal since I was a kid and I have been singing for about 8 years
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
It's an album with varied influences, mainly Nu-metal and metalcore, it has 11 tracks, each track has a very particular theme and really cool atmospheres, it's an album with a lot of groove and rage
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Our main inspiration was weed
CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?
In a few words? I would say ... violence, groove, high, experience, passion and hatred for the world we live in.
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
The recording that struck me the most is that of "Concrete War" It was an intense and painful day, I was sick but I really gave it my all and that day I exceeded my limits and faced the pain to finish this track, we absolutely wanted to finish, I almost passed out, it was really an unpleasant experience but it made me much stronger
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
We don't have a music video yet but we are thinking about it seriously. My favorite music video, I would say it's "Aeon" from the band "Crystal Lake"
WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
You will probably find me smoking and playing video games or partying with friends haha
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
Yes I am always nervous before going on stage but as soon as it starts and I start to sing and I see the public enjoying it, I don't think about it for a single second and I have the best time of my life
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
We were partying between us, we smoked a lot and we thought it would be cool to do a band together, it's not more complicated than that haha
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
It's mainly our drummer Lou who composes the songs and I write the lyrics. We see each other regularly with Lou to work on it to compose the flows etc. We make a good team.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I am inspired by the world we live in, the emotions that music transmits when I listen to it, the fictional stories but I still draw a lot of my inspiration from sadness, hatred and anger, it's for me very powerful emotions that can do great things when used wisely.
WHAT IS NEXT?
Right now we're recording the new EP, I can't wait to release it and share it with everyone, it'll be more modern, more aggressive, even crazier vibes, I'm really proud of who we are preparing musically
