Q & A: INTRODUCING HEAVY METAL BAND MARBLE

Introducing Italian heavy metal band Marble

PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR US WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOU AND YOUR MUSIC AND TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF. (Bass player Daniel answering questions)

Hi There, we’re MARBLE an Italian melodic metal band. We play a mix of metal with female vocals, merged with heavy guitars and a progressive approach to the songs.

We are going to release our second full-length album called “S.A.V.E.” in February, through Sliptrick Records.

Marble was an idea of bass player Daniel, who created with some local musicians an ensemble to play prog and power metal. Soon guitarist Omar and keyboard player Jacopo joined the band and Paul completed the lineup as lead guitarist. There were a few changes behind the mic during the years. We published our first demo, then in 2008 our first full-length A.t.G.o.d., an Ep in 2010. After a forced stop, we reprised the project with Eleonora as the new singer. We re-recorded a song from our first album for a compilation with the new lineup and began recording the new stuff for S.A.V.E.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?

We’re going to release through Sliptrick records in February our brand new album called “S.A.V.E.” where we combine the concept of sins and virtues with human behaviours. We tried to find our own approach to the subject: not religious, more down-to-earth, probably a bit cynical and dispassionate. It's a theme we found tremendously appealing. We think our new album is a good combination of some prog elements, aggressive and heavy guitar rhythms blended with lots of vocal melodies and keyboards shades. If need to find some reference for comparison, our approach may have some elements in common with Evergrey and Nevermore, but also bands like Ocean of Slumber and Darkwater. The first single, Heartless Disease, will be out on January 22th.

WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?

Heartless Disease revolves around our concept of Lust (one of the seven deadly sins). It’s essentially a dialogue between a libertine and a puritan. In the libertine’s opinion lust is the emotion that will really set the puritan free. Musically this song is the combination of all our elements, with fast drums, progressive rhythmics, catchy choruses and great solos.

CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?

It’s a journey through human emotion, so varied and faceted. We tried to represent this variety also musically using different rhythms, instruments and vocal approaches.

WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?

Each of us would answer differently. We come from different musical backgrounds and listen to many genres, not limited to metal and rock. For me, Daniel (bass player), “Dead Heart In A Dead World” from Nevermore is a milestone.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?

We filmed a video clip for another song that will be released as the second single along with the album. Probably it’s not the best video you’ll find, but it’s our first with this ensemble, we had much fun filming it and we’re proud of the result!

WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?

Ordinary day jobs! Except for Paul and Norman who earn their keep with music, since they teach it too!

DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?

A bit of nervous is normal and it gives you the adrenaline that ensures a good performance!

HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?

As stated before, we’re basically a group of friends, who have been sharing the same passion for music for the last 20 years.

HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?

It’s a joint effort, each of us contributes in their capacity with music, vocals, lyrics.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Being able to communicate our vision and our feelings to the audience, that’s our goal and what we strive to achieve with every song.

WHAT IS NEXT?

Right now we’re focused on promoting the album and in particular the first single, which is coming out January 22th. We try to take things as they come, especially giving the worldwide pandemic that changed everything in a few months.

PLEASE TELL US ANY SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS SO WE CAN SHARE.
