Catchy pop punk from Peterborough band Keep This Up
PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR US WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOU AND YOUR MUSIC AND TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.
Hi, we are Keep This Up, a pop punk band from Peterborough, UK. We write music in a similar style to bands like Fall Out Boy, Sum 41, State Champs and Neck Deep. We have been a band for 2 years and in-between lockdowns managed to finally record and release our debut single Punchlines.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW SINGLE?
Our new single Punchlines came out on 19th March – It was written in-between lockdowns, so over several months and we are so proud to finally release this. The single was produced by Pete Godly of Violet Studios in Yaxley, UK.
WHAT INSPIRED THE SINGLE?
The single was written a long time ago by myself (Chris) – I was inspired by events in my life and lyrically it talks of having hope despite things going wrong. I think that’s something that’s quite fitting these days.
CAN YOU SUM UP THE SINGLE IN A FEW WORDS?
Catchy Pop Punk
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
This is definitely a broad question, for the three of us we all have such a deep love for music that we all cannot agree on one record. There are too many good albums out there to simply decide on one. They all had a great impact on us and our music.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
Again, very broad, there are a lot of music videos we love between us but we are hoping to have a video shot for Punchlines this year.
WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
When we’re not making music, we’re normally working long hours, making money to try and fund the music. Some of us have other hobbies but otherwise music tends to be what we do most.
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO, HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
We have yet to perform (Thanks to covid) so we are looking forward to that opportunity hopefully this year and we definitely will be nervous but excited for that first show.
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
So, the band was formed in early 2019 by myself (Chris, Rhythm Guitar + Vocals) and an ex member – we auditioned a drummer (Dan, our current drummer) and he turned up with a whole drum kit In a Ford KA. Being so impressed at his playing and Tetris skills, we hired him. Next we met Mike (Our lead guitarist) through mutual friends and we have been a band since.
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
When writing, Chris writes the lyrics but between us the music and sound is created. We see it as teamwork as it's something we all want to be proud of and like.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
As a band I think we inspire each other, with writing, performing and general friendship. Obviously other musicians and people inspire us a great deal, like the friends and family that support us but we always try and inspire each other.
WHAT IS NEXT?
Next, we are recording our debut EP, then it is on to live shows to show everyone what we can do
