We are Oaks, a French instrumental and conceptual metal band.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
The idea of being an instrumental band is that telling stories without words is quite an exciting challenge for us.
We feel that’s allowed us to express our creativity more freely than with a singer.
The visualization of our music is very important for us, that’s why we created a video show and we conceptualize our projects as a synesthesic experience.
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE? CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?
Our 1st album Genesis of the Abstract is a conceptual album. The main idea is the creation of the abstract as a concept
We write it to be like a long song of 35mns. However, each track has its own meaning and atmosphere.
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
Led Zeppelin 4 definitively change my ears. I just discover the beauty of what rock music can be. I remember to been stuck when I heard Battle of Evermore for the 1st time. The double voices of Plant and Sandy Denis blowed me. Of course so much others albums are important for me like Iron Maiden “Seven son of the seventh son”, Metallica “And Justice for All”, Black Sabbath “Vol.4”, Pink Floyd “Shine on you crazy diamond”.
I could speak hours about music….
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
We worked with Clément Sautet, our video creator, for all our visuals and music video.
He is like the fourth member of the band.
We realized 3 music videos and I am very proud of all of them.

WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
I am thinking and managing Oaks 24/24. But I also love to take care of my little garden in Paris and playing with my little daughter.
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
I am totally frightened each time before a show. But as soon as the show starts, the energy of our sound replaces the fear.
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
Julien and I were friends in our hometown since 20 years. Then we moved to Paris and wanted to make lusic together. We jammed on some tunes and Oaks began!
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
I am the composer of the band, I come up with most of the ideas, which grows with creativity and science of Julien. They have this working dynamic that works. The two complement each other well. Nathan read what the song wants to express and adapt the drum parts accordingly. It's all about dynamics and emotions.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
All music and bands we have listened for years. We are inspired by the will of creating music.
WHAT IS NEXT?
Our first album "Genesis Of The Abstract" was released on September 30th and is available on all streaming platforms, LPs and CD. We have several shows coming up in Paris and in France. We will announce them as we go along. We will also start working on our next EP which should be released in 2023, if all goes well!
