Genre blending alt pop-rock from Ukraine

I'm Arsen - the frontman from In Signs band. We are from Kyiv, Ukraine, playing Indie Rock, Alternative, and sometimes even Alt-Pop. Our signature move is mixing genres. We started as a post-grunge band but tried to be experimental so right now we don't lock ourselves just with one stream.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Our latest record is called 'Knock Knock' and this is the single that shows who we are. Last year we were in two different studios working on new music. 'Knock Knock' is a mix of our emotions during the last months and vocals and music can confirm that. The new single has some recognition on the international level so we're glad that people like who we are.
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?
I wrote this one being affected by the lockdown here in Ukraine. The last months were heavy for the band and for our music in general cause we didn't have any concerts since Feb 2020. 'Knock Knock' shows passion and all the feelings I felt. The music can perfectly support the vocals melody and that's why this is one of the best songs for In Signs so far.
CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?
'Knock Knock' is a real banger that you don't expect to hear.
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
If we're talking about our music, I believe 'Too Much' changed In Signs as a band and me personally. This song was written long ago and our fans like it a lot. 'Too Much' brought to us confidence I think.
But except In Signs, I can name the song that changed my life and this 'Nothing Else Matters' by Metallica. This is my first tattoo and after I started to write my songs.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
My favourite music video so far is 'All I Want' by Kodaline. It's like a movie and I like such music videos so much.
We were working on the music video but we decided not to upload it cause we want to make a real masterpiece.
WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
Except In Signs, all members are working in IT companies in different positions. I like to play and watch football as well. I was on a few huge stadiums so this is kinda my other passion. As a result, I buy FIFA games each year on Play Station.
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
I think that all artists get nervous before the concert but all such feelings just go away when you start playing. It the same thing for me. Before the concert, I always think about different stuff. I just go on the stage and take it easy.
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
It was in 2014, November 1st. So it's In Signs Birthday. Everything has started with my call to my friend. I purposed to him to create the band. He was the first guitar player in the band. I was also playing the guitar. Later on, we invited a drummer and bass player. But we changed a lot of members. Now I'm the only one who remains from the original squad.
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
I'm a songwriter in 'In Signs' and partially a sound producer. In Signs always act like that. I'm writing songs at home just with my acoustic guitar. My notes and voice memos on the phone are full of ideas, sometimes I drop some lyric or melody being on the road or just walking.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I always write about people, their feeling, and what's behind them. Most of the songs contain my personal experience but I also used to write about the people around me. The lyrics are very important to me so I care a lot about them. I hate the songs that mean nothing and I always skip such music in the playlists.
I can't tell the special places that inspire me. Sometimes I just need an empty room and that's it.
WHAT IS NEXT?
Right now we are working in the studio. I have a lot of demos so we just need to decide the songs to work with. Soon we will release the new song called 'Bloom'. It's kinda chill single but with a heavy chorus. 'Bloom' is a level up for In Signs and we hope that our listeners will like it.
After the lockdown, we want to have as many concerts as we can arrange.
