The band talk about their new track and...purple monkey dishwasher
PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR US WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOU AND YOUR MUSIC AND TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.
Jose: I’m Jose. I am Co-founder, co-writer, serve as lead vocal in some of our songs. We want to share our music with the world in the hope that they enjoy it. We hope that it might touch someone in a profound way or encourage them to keep on going despite the challenges they may face.
Louie: I’m Louie. I am Co-founder, co-writer, I play lead guitar & bass guitar. I’ve always been into music. I’m hoping to accomplish having music being my life and having people hearing my/our music.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Our next upcoming single will be released February 16th of 2021 which is entitled: “First Love”
We recorded this back in ……um 2018? Yeah, somewhere around there
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Louie: I was bored in class. I think it was a humanities class
Jose: Hahahaha, First Love was from a riff and quite a number of song lyrics that Louie had written. I added in a line or two and after working on it in one of our practice sessions it was complete.
CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?
Louie: Purple monkey dishwasher
Jose: That, that says it all man…..
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
Louie: Lots of records changed different periods of my life. A couple I can remember are Nirvana's Nevermind, (japanese punk band) Hi-Standard's version of "California Dreamin", Deep Purple's "Burn", Son House "Grinnin in Your Face", Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac live (especially the songs "oh well" and "Green Manalishi") Pink Floyd's song "See Emily Play" too
Jose: I remember mostly Styx (Kilroy was Here) and Michael Jackson’s (Off The Wall), those two albums really stuck with me since, I could see that any possibility that you could think of, could become reality.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
Louie: When I was a little kid, the videos for "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister, and "You Might Think I’m Crazy" by the Cars, they really stood out for the 6-yr old me. "Land of Confusion" by Genesis has to be up there
Jose: Maybe it’s the movie director in me, but I really loved the cinematic look of Metallica playing on that swinging platform in Memory Remains. I can’t imagine how many cameras had to be used to get that look to come out the way it did.
WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
Louie: Arm-wrestling the loch ness monster, taking group photos with Bigfoot, the Yeti, and the Chupacabra. You know, the usual.
Jose: All while eating a cheese and bean burrito! I will try to take less blurry photos next time
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
Louie: I haven't played live too much in the last few years, but I never really got over the nervousness when I used to play regularly.
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
Louie: Jose came to me with a song idea that I really liked, and then we kinda went from there.
Jose: Yeah, once those ideas started flowing it just had to keep on going, keep on going. That faucet hasn’t stopped flowing since.
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
Louie: We more or less worked together, apart. Like, Jose would write lyrics, and I’d come up with music for them, and whatever adjustments we needed to make, we were receptive to. Taking the ego out of the equation for the sake of the song is key.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Louie: Anything. I don’t have any specific muse. I am really interested in the human mind, and comedy.
Jose: I agree, anything can inspire you whether it’s a past experience or nature.
WHAT IS NEXT?
We'd all like to know, now wouldn't we?
