PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR US WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOU AND YOUR MUSIC AND TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.
We are the band Dead Echoes from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. We play a combination of hard rock and metal with a few elements from other styles mixed in. We started out during the pandemic in middle of 2020.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
We currently have four singles out which are all from our first upcoming full length album “Twin Flames”. We also are about to launch a brand new single in the next week or so which is the title track to the album. Check out the song “Unlove” which has been in rotation on numerous internet radio stations along with “Don’t Count On Me”.
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?
The album is more like a 15 track story about the evolution of the end of a bad relationship. It explores a lot of real life topics such as domestic abuse, toxic behaviors, depression, and suicide. The album was written in real time during a similar experience so many of the songs are filled with real emotion and energy.
CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?
Dark, heavy, melodic, catchy, memorable, and singable(if that’s a word ha ha)!
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
I don’t think any one single record has done this, but possibly an era of music. Anything in the 70s, 80s, and 90s rock genres… because it’s what we grew up with and what made us want to play music in the first place.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
Anything by Tool. Their videos are amazing! They really take this as art to another level.
WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
Buying music gear… does that count? Spending time with our families probably. We have kids and all that so there is a lot of inspiration that comes from that as well. Listening to vinyl, designing shirts, watching movies. We stay busy.
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
Good question. We haven’t had a chance to play any live shows together yet so who is to say if we would be nervous or not. Guess we will find out.
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
It started with Matt writing material during a bad time in his life and wanting to turn it into a full album. He did a music post looking for a vocalist and Bryan send him some awesome demos. There was just something special about Bryan’s vocal style that made Matt want him to be the voice of his story. From there they put together this first album.
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
This album was already written in advance because of the circumstances for which it was written. But as songs were brought to the studio they were given tweaks and flavorings that got them to where they are now. There was a lot of just “trying things out” this time around and it worked out very favorably.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Life experiences. Music is a way to let go of things in a healthy way. It’s a way to honor someone or something. It’s a way to tell a story or give support to anyone who has been in, or is still in, similar situations. Everything we write about is real.
WHAT IS NEXT?
Right now we are just going to focus on this album release. However, we have a handful of new songs in the works already for the next album. Stay tuned!
