Valery from Chaoseum talks with us about their new record and loving Iron Maiden
PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR US WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOU AND YOUR MUSIC AND TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.
My name is Valery and I play guitar in the Swiss metal band called Chaoseum. This band was born in Lausanne in 2018.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
That will be the first studio album with our singer CK Smile. These songs are strongest than our first album. Our single “Into My Split” will be on this album.
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Different kind of music, but mainly close to Korn or Slipknot
CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?
It’s recorded at Chaos studio and Conatus Studios on Switzerland. Gwen Kerjan mixed and mastered it at Slab Sound Studio in France. The artwork comes from the master Gustavo Sazes. It contains 11 tracks.
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
I discovered Iron Maiden in 1988. For sure this band changed my life. But I don’t know if it’s “Seventh Son of a Seventh Son”, “The Number of the beast” or “Live After Death”. I would like to say “Live After Death” because I saw this live on my tv almost everyday, and for this reason, I started learning music.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?

WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
Hiking with my family, running or eating something with my friends.
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
Stage fright, no. But every time, just before we started the show I’m a little bit nervous because I hope that I will not have technical problems
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
Loïc and I played together (with Greg too) in a symphonic metal band called Elferya. But we wanted to play more gigs. We founded this band and asked Greg to play with us. We also asked CK, but in 2018, he was so busy. Finally, he joined us in 2019, after our USA tour with Soulfly.
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
Loïc writes the biggest part of music and CK the main lyrics. But in the end, everybody completes the song with their own personal vision.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
A lot of bands, movies and our own experience.
WHAT IS NEXT?
Really soon, a new video. On September, 25th the new album “Second Life”.
Due to COVID -19, our European tour with Fleshgod Apocalypse and Ex-Deo is postponed in autumn 2021.
