Canadian metal with a nod to NWBHM
PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR US WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOU AND YOUR MUSIC AND TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.
Hey! I'm Jefftimus, drummer in Boneyard. I'm from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In addition to Boneyard, I've played in some great bands in previous years. Original recording bands Septimus, The Benders and a Judas Priest/ Iron Maiden tribute called Tyrant.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Our debut album Oathbreaker was recorded at Wolfs Den Studio, here in Edmonton, by Cam Macleod of White Wolf fame. The first single is an epic, Iron Maiden influenced, song called Fates Warning.
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Not wanting to play cover songs forever, the band, collectively, was inspired to create our own music. This was our bassist's first real original band, so he was highly motivated to perform and record his collection of material. The lyrics to the first single, Fates Warning, kind of parallel all the evil and darkness happening in today's world. They offer the inspiration of hope, and that things will get better.
CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?
Fantastic sounding, Canadian traditional metal
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
Kiss Alive got me started on my musical journey.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
Wow, there are some many videos to choose from. I recently found a Metal Church video for the song Needle and Suture, it's rad!
As far as a Boneyard video, expect two of them coming very soon!
WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
I also play drums in a brand new Judas Priest tribute called Firepower (https://www.facebook.com/groups/574560840123131)
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
Rarely, and if I do, the nerves go away by about the third song in the set, haha!
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
Back in 2015, Boneyard started out a cover band, as I wanted to play classic hard rock and metal songs. Since 2017, we've transitioned to all original.
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
The key songwriter is our bass player Dennis Cooke. He will often have a whole song already written, or a couple new riffs. After that, we all contribute to song arrangements, and our singer Pamtera provides most of the lyrics.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Life man, and to release music that looking back, I can be really proud of.
WHAT IS NEXT?
The first single, Fates Warning, will be released on most digital platforms on October 17th. The album, Oathbreaker, will drop on October 24th, and be available on most digital platforms, CD and Vinyl (December). Live release shows are also being planned, stay tuned for more info.
