We are Barbarian Prophecies, a death metal band formed in Lugo (Galicia, Spain) in 2000.
*TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?*
Our new album "Horizon" was recorded between the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 at Kollapse Studio by Iván Ferro.
It consists of 10 tracks and lasts approximately 50 minutes.
It will go on sale in the autumn of this year 2021, although it can already be heard on different digital platforms.
*WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?*
Lately our albums are inspired by the mysteries about the existence and origin of the universe in terms of lyrical themes.
Regarding musical influences, there is a great variety because each member of the band listens to different genres within extreme metal and that makes personal contributions to each track. In addition to influences within extreme metal, references from other genres such as electronic music, 80's pop or flamenco can also be found in this album.
*CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?*
It's a different album from all our previous works. There are faster tracks and not as long as usual. The songs have many different influences and are not typecasted into classic death metal. In short, there are songs for all tastes.
*WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?*
This is a very personal question, but I suppose many will think of their first time recording. The first recording is always special, but the recent ones are also special because they make you see your evolution as a musician and that change drives you to keep making plans and improving.
*DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?*
We recently recorded a video clip for one of the songs on the new album and the results are very promising. We are looking forward to seeing it finished and being able to share it with you. It is difficult for us to decide on a favorite video clip because the audiovisual professionals with whom we have worked have always known how to perfectly capture the track in images.
Since 2015 we have been working with _"60 ráfagas"_ for the recording of our video clips, great professionals to whom we are very grateful for all their work and dedication.
*WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?*
None of us make a living from music, so outside of it we each have our jobs and family occupations like anyone else, but we are fortunate that our professions allow us to have the time and money necessary to invest in our hobby.
*DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?*
There is always some nervousness before a performance because we want things to go well. The only way to deal with it is to rehearse a lot to get on stage being confident.
*HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?*
The band was formed in 2000 from the union of two bands: Barbarianth and Venomous Prophecies.
From there came Barbarian Prophecies, the result of the combination of the names and members of both bands.
*HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?*
In this new album "Horizon" we have all contributed to the creation of the lyrics. Everyone has their own way of writing and constructing the letters, but in some way the result is harmonious.
*WHAT INSPIRES YOU?*
We get inspired by listening to a lot of music, sharing time together as a band, life experiences ... but above all it's satisfying to know that there are people who like the music we make, because it is so personal, that the fact that our music transmit to them the same as to us, it's almost something magical and inspiring.
*WHAT IS NEXT?*
The next thing will be to resume our live activity, since we have been out of the stage for more than a year due to the situation generated by the pandemic. We really want to present "Horizon" live and some concert dates are already scheduled for this summer, but we are still not sure if they can be carried out. Hopefully yes.
