PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR US WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOU AND YOUR MUSIC AND TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.
We are Otherworldly Entity. We're a numetal/alt rock band from Syracuse, NY.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Our new song is called Monster Inside You. It's a song about haters posing as friends. It's about people talking down to you, and down about you. Most importantly, it's about never sinking to their level. It's about rising above the pettiness and being the bigger person.
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Real life. Dealing with these types of situations where people decide to turn their own insecurities outward, to externalize and project their own problems to try to make others as miserable as they are. I think we've all been on the receiving end of that childishness. I think a lot of people can relate to it.
CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
I would have to say it's 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage by Cold. The first time I ever heard that album, I told my friends "I will play with this band some day. I will be good enough." I was 14 years old at the time. 18 years later, we played with Cold for the first time.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
I'm really happy with how the Monster Inside You music video turned out. It was exactly how we envisioned it, and I'm so proud of the amount of work that went into it. I made the mask, the outfits, I programed the lights, Zlatko edited, Taylor directed, it was such a solid team effort.
WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
I'm a jewelry and fashion designer, so I sirens a lot of time doing that. But I'm also a paranormal investigator, so I end up in a lot of dark and creepy places.
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
Absolutely. But it's replaced by excitement a soon as I get out on the stage.
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
Zlatko and I formed the band back in 2018 as John Harris and the Otherworldly Entities in support of my solo album DICHOTOMY. After playing together for a year or so, we were working on new material and after seeing some achievements as a group, we decided to change it to Otherworldly Entity. Because as a band, we're one entity.
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
It's pure and utter chaos, and we like it that way. We don't have a set procedure, we try to keep things organic. I think that makes a big difference for us. We try to feel the music, feel the words.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
You know how if you hit your head really hard and there's like 3 seconds where your brain is vibrating and reality isn't real anymore? That. It's that genuine humanity. The purest emotion and empathy that can't be faked.
WHAT IS NEXT?
We're playing a lot of shows this summer, and we're hoping to play more festivals. We're going to be releasing a new EP this fall, as well.
