Hello! We are FUBAR. We’re an Alt Rock band from Bristol! We’re the punchline to the joke “What do you get when you cross an Indie singer, a rock guitarist, a funk bassist and a metal drummer?” and we’re all about putting on energetic shows and giving people a good time!
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
We’re diversifying from our previous releases by leaning into our heavier side, all the energy and groove our fans have come to know, now with extra attitude right down to the tongue-in-cheek title “Unsigned & Crap”! We think we’ve nicely defined our sound and range with this one
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?
The title is a bit of prod at recent comments made in national media about unsigned bands being crap so we knew it was time to make some more noise and show how crap we really are! All of our lyrics are based on experiences from lead singer Jake’s past and this EP we’re touching on the crappier subjects of homelessness, politics, and searching for meaning in life

WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
For me (Butters - Bassist) I’m gonna have to go with I Should Coco by Supergrass, growing up we always had a plenty of Brit Pop albums kicking about the house which really shaped my early musical inspirations and I Should Coco is one I always come back to time and again, it’s had a huge influence on my particular style
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
We had a lot of fun putting together a rough video for a recent demo for a song on the new EP but we haven’t been able to do a full production video yet, we love a good funny/weird music video and I could see us doing something like on of mine and Jake’s favourites: Ween - Roses Are Free
WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
Other than that and the day jobs you’d probably find us all just hanging out and having a laugh together or playing some games, Aaron and Jake have very musical lives either playing or sound engineering other shows whereas you might find Sam behind a camera making people look pretty or find Butters getting real nerdy with some Magic The Gathering
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
We’ve all had a touch of the nerves in the past for sure but we’re no stranger to a show nowadays and we feel very confident in our performances. Some would recommend dutch courage, we recommend practice and jamming out!
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
It was a bit of a chance encounter from 2 bands parting ways before the pandemic, Jake coming from Indie rockers The Jacques and Butters, Sam, and Aaron all coming from Funk metal band Ironvolt. At the end of 2021 the scene was heating back up and we were all keen to get back on it, Jake had several lockdowns worth of material ready to go looking for a band when he bumped into Butters at a gig one day and the rest came following after
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGEHTER?
A typical FUBAR writing seshing starts with Jake dropping a 30 second or so clip of some chords and lyrics into our group chat and then we all get together and spend an evening dropping takes onto a demo and discussing ideas as we go. While Jake brought a lot of the foundations in with his material we’ve all gotten creative with all the tracks and some have transformed significantly from all of our inputs to what they are now
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Money and Fame… Just kidding, we all just love music with a passion and we’ve all being hugely inspired by the presence of music in our lives, Jake especially having grown up with a musical family with his dad in Folk band K-Passa. The joy of music inspires us, we do it to get you dancing, singing, and having a good time!
WHAT IS NEXT?
Anything’s possible! Right now our main goal is to hit the road and take our sound across the UK or even further with plenty more tunes along the way so keep an eye out for FUBAR grooving out at venue near you!
