This is Don Huffman and I started Farewell Fortune back in 2019 as a rock project recording at Deep End Studio outside Baltimore, MD. I have been writing and recording since 2014, and have released two albums and one EP. Farewell Fortune’s first album was released on June 3rd, 2022 called “Decompose”.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
My latest album, “Chaos Serum”, is coming April 14th, 2023 and contains ten new songs recorded over a two year period. The album is a hard-charging rock with a tonne of energy. I absolutely love these ten tunes and can’t wait to share them with the world. You can listen to the first single “Watch The Walls Fall” on all digital outlets with the new single “Mayhem” coming February 25th, 2023. No two songs are alike on the album, as I wanted to keep the listener on the edge of their seat wondering what will hit their ears next. I think everyone who checks it out will be very pleased.
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Lots of chaos in the world today with wars, hunger, mental health issues, and just a ton of lost people out there. Music has always been the medicine to those ills for many and that’s where the album title comes from.

Rock…will…never…die!
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
Pearl Jam “Ten”. Absolute masterpiece. The 90’s were a time of great upheaval as well and Pearl Jam came out with an album that just was the soundtrack for so many. Loved the power in the vocals and lyrics and that band just clicked the music into overdrive. The solo to “Alive” is still one of my favorites.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
I grew up with the king of music videos, Michael Jackson. Yeah, I know that’s a shocking answer, but he started the craze with “Thriller”. The man was an incredible performer.
WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
Working full time, family responsibilities, and binge watching shows I missed over the years.
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
Farewell Fortune is a project I dreamed up in 2019 and have brought in many different artists to play on my albums. These artists have graciously given their time and energy to help me complete the albums and I’m forever grateful.
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
I write all the lyrics for the songs. Usually it will come to me after an event in my life or reading the news. Tony Correlli, producer of all my work, will compose the music and we bring in artists to assist when needed.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Many things, however, I would say emotionally attached events are my biggest inspiration.
WHAT IS NEXT?
The album “Chaos Serum” releases on April 14th and we are in the process of filming a video for our next single “Static” in mid March. I am currently doing interviews and podcasts in preparation for the album release.
