“BEST BREAK UP EVER IS AN ANTHEM FOR ALL” TILLY TALKS TO IS ABOUT HER DEBUT AND KEEPING GROUNDED

HI! I’m Tilly, 17 years old and I was born in Walsall but now live in Lichfield, west midlands. I live above the Feathers Inn which is just outside the city centre.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEW SINGLE ‘BEST BREAK UP EVER’

Best Break Up Ever’ is an anthem for all, it's not just about me and my heartbreaks. It's about everyone, and taking a negative situation and making it into a positive by looking at the brighter side of things and that everything happens for a reason.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO MUSIC?

I’ve grown up around music my entire life. My dad was a DJ and in a band and my mum used to be a dancer. I used to take my oldest brother's ipod (with several different genres on) and listen to it in the back of the car. I first sang on stage when I was 12 years old at a battle of the bands at my high school and that sprouted my love for performing.

WHO HAVE YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES BEEN?

My parents and my brother... no doubt about it. Avril Lavigne and Hayley of Paramore are another two who I hold pretty close to my heart along with Amy Lee.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL WRITING AND RECORDING DAY LOOK LIKE?

Writing sessions are fun and creative and it’s amazing working with Mike Krompass at Base Culture Music(Nelly Furtado, Smash Mouth) and Robbie Nevil (Miley Cyrus, Everybody Loves An Outlaw). On recording days I usually get to the studio about eleven/twelve o'clock, go over the song and maybe make a few tweaks here and there, record for a few hours including harmonies then have a lunch break and chat about the songs. Then we hang around the studio, make some edits and maybe re-record a few bits.

WHAT HAS BEEN THAT HARDEST THING ABOUT YOUR MUSIC JOURNEY SO FAR AND WHAT DID YOU DO TO OVERCOME IT?

For me, it's getting my head around the fact that I've actually got a massive shot at being an artist, getting to record and perform my own music, and everything just feels so surreal to me.

WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD BE THE COOLEST COLLABORATION PROJECT BETWEEN YOU AND ANOTHER ARTIST?

If I got to perform with Avril or Hayley, the little girl inside my heart would be screaming with excitement.

WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?

To always keep myself grounded and to not let anything go to my head.

PLEASE TELL US A RANDOM FACT ABOUT YOURSELF

I love to roller skate and ice skate and I love art, the freedom to express yourself.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR TILLY?

Hopefully my next single will be out this autumn, an EP early next year then my first album and I’m excited about performing live, keep an eye out for that and you can find out when on my socials @tillymusicofficlial and say HI!
