BASS PLAYER JIM RODFORD PASSES AWAY AGE 76

Photogroupie is deeply saddened by the news that Jim Rodford has passed away today aged 76. The Zombies and The Kinks bass player died due to falling down the stairs at his home in St Albans.

We've known Jim for a number of years an can honestly say he was one of the nicest people in the business. Not only was he a legendary bass player whose timing and musicianship were impeccable, he was humble, gracious and a real gentleman too. In 2015 he gave us a rare interview where we had the honour of spending a few hours with him over a drink at the Jolly Sailor pub in St Albans, where he enthralled us with stories about his musical career.

You can read the interview HERE.

Jim was also a keen supporter of local music in St Albans and his huge contribution to scene will be missed.

Our thoughts are with his wife Jean and family at this sad time, and we will forever remember him as a terrific musician and a wonderful person to have had the pleasure of knowing.

RIP Jim.
