LONDON HEADLINE SHOW ANNOUNCED BOSTON MUSIC ROOM, TUFNELL PARK – MAY 26th plus PLAYING THE GREAT ESCAPE FESTIVAL IN MAY
Australian alt-rockers The Rubens have announced they will be headlining Boston Music Room, London on May 26th. Tickets will be available from Friday (March 18th) via Live Nation and Ticketmaster. It follows on from their debut UK performance at The Great Escape this coming May. The platinum certified, award-winning quintet will be performing in support of their debut UK album Hoops, due on May 20th through Warner Bros. Records (pre-order on iTunes here). Hoops entered Australia’s ARIA Album chart at No.2 and topped the iTunes Alternative Chart with its 11-tracks of soulful blues swagger and feel-good indie-rock anthems. The album’s title track was voted No.1 in the Triple J Hottest 100 Chart beating the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala and The Weeknd, and has since gone on to receive a Platinum certification. It has also just been nominated for the APRA ‘Rock Song Of The Year’ Award. However it’s not just the band’s native Australia that has gone crazy for The Rubens. The US is now falling for their charms with the single ‘Hoops’ having reached No.7 on Billboard’s Next Big Sound Chart, which is no surprise as the critically acclaimed album was recorded in New York City and produced by the Grammy Award winning David Kahne (Lana Del Rey, The Strokes) and mixed by legendary producer Michael Brauer (Coldplay). The Rubens have also started making an impact on the UK through word-of-mouth reputation alone. The album’s title track is already championed by Radio X and entered the Spotify UK Viral Chart at No.7 and has clocked up over 5.9 MILLION plays to date. And these UK dates are the first chance to experience The Rubens exhilarating live show in the flesh. The band are heading out on a US tour next week as main support to The Naked and Famous. The Rubens are also set to play their biggest ever headline tour in Australia this June, which will see them taking on huge venues including Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena. “Sam Margin may well be the next great Aussie frontman” – The Guardian “Australia’s hottest exports” – GQ “With Hoops The Rubens confirm they’re Australia’s go-to for outstanding indie-soul” Rolling Stone “Critical favourites and mass-appeal monsters” – SPIN Magazine
